Dr. Martin was born and grew up in Franklin, KY. Her father was born in Puerto Rico and her mother a native of Glasgow, KY. Dr. Martin graduated with a B.S. in biology from the Western Kentucky University and from Dental School at the University of Kentucky. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the Hispanic Dental Association of America.
After graduating from UK, her first job was in a dental office called Fortress Dental in Knoxville, TN. Fortress was a large practice that had many offices across the Southeast; this practice focused on servicing patients that were covered by Medicaid. Dr. Martin stayed with this company for three years and then moved to a much smaller firm in Murfreesboro, TN. She liked her work in Murfreesboro but the office was a family-run practice in which she had no hope of ever becoming an owner.
